Get to know Zabol Chehl Dokhtar Castle in Sistan

There are numerous adobe castles all over Iran that their use and origin are not known.

Chehl Dokhtar Castle in the province of Sistan and Balouchestan dates back to Sassanid era and has an amazing structure built on a stone platform.

The original use of the castle is a mystery to us but there are many stories transferred to our times heart by heart.

The name of the castle means “the castle of forty maids”. Some believe that there were 40 maids residing in the castle that their laughter was heard all the time.
